Frosted Pots Co. was founded in 2015 by Lucille Frost (they/them). A queer, Metis, interdisciplinary artist, curator, educator, community activist, daughter, sister, and friend. Their creative practice is based in amiskwaciwâskahikan ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ or Beaver Hills House which settlers called Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
This body of work represents a period of self reflection in the artists life and creative practice. Inspired to evaluate personal health, sustainability and creative limitations during COVID 19 lockdown isolation the artist focused on creating a series of functional vessels in a style they have called ‘Alberta Gold’. The clay body and glaze combination are a representation of dark fertile earth dusted in warm golden grasses. Lucille has been working with ceramics for 25 years and has developed techniques in handbuilding, wheel throwing, clay harvesting, glaze making, and various firing techniques including wood fire and raku. They use traditional craft as a means of connecting to their culture and the land.
